actscommunities @ saalemchurch
ACTS communities at Saalem are:
Accountable. As real friendships are built, we affirm and challenge each other to live the full life God intends for us.
Caring. We commit ourselves to help each other with our real needs, and to minister to each other.
Teaching. We engage in discussion-based learning.
Serving. We work together for God’s kingdom, growing in spiritual gifts.
Ministry group and connect groups. Ministry groups come together around a specific ministry (e.g. worship team); connect groups come together with the purpose of connecting; both seek to be ACTS communities.
Intergenerational. Most groups will seek to include people of all ages from youth to seniors. However, some may be called to focus on a specific group.
September-January and February-June. Most groups will have a 5-month cycle; thus, September and February are the perfect times to join or switch groups as groups multiply.
Small: Most groups will have between 7 and 14 people.
Weekly: Most group will meet weekly, with the expectation that people attend at least 1/2 to 3/4 of the time (if shiftwork only permits attending 1/2 the time, that is fine; otherwise 3/4+ is expected.
Sermon-based. Most groups will base their discussions on the sermon, while some will study specific topics, such as marriage or Alpha.
