I’ve heard it said that our lives must be the number one worship songs. As worshippers, we must be people of character. One life choice can change everything. Decisions to do or not do something can alter your life and others that follow you. Know also that you are a leader. Don’t live your life for other people, just know that they are watching you. Your life reflects the nature of God to others. So understanding that, then, our standard must be HOLINESS. God says “Be holy because I am Holy.” We do this by taking every decision we make in accountability to God. What is your life like when no one is watching? If the Holy Spirit were a dove resting on your shoulder, how would you move, speak, or act? How would your attitudes and behavior change?
But is every decision we make so black and white? No. In fact, I would encourage you to look up the grey scale. The Grey scale is the “color spectrum between white and black.” Simply put, every that is not black and white is a shade of grey? What do we do with these kinds of decisions? God has to tell you what is wrong or right for YOU. Not for others, for you. You can’t allow other people to tell you where to stand on different choices. We must learn as worshippers to rely on our relationship with the Holy Spirit.
A shade of grey is determined by how much light shines through it. Each shade of grey, whether right or wrong, is determined by how much He shines through. This is why our relationship with the Lord is so important- in small and large decisions. Being told what to do would be too easy and would remove relationship. When we get used asking Him about everything, eventually His mind will become ours.
I’ll close this blog entry by leaving you with one word: Grace. God doesn’t look at the one time you did something wrong, He looks at your whole life. As a parent, do you remember when your kids make mistakes? Even if you’ve fallen many times and got back, He loves you. Surround yourself in His love, and with others who will encourage and love you even when you’re struggling.
God let our hearts be open to you. Thank you for working in our hearts as we work to build character and integrity, to be the people that carry You to the world. Amen.
“Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23.
