Cleansing and Pruning
God is after our hearts. As worshippers we are to live to keep our hearts pure before Him. Song of Songs 2:15 says:
“Catch us the foxes,
The little foxes that spoil the vines,
For our vines have tender grapes.”
This verse is talking about the “little foxes” that destroy our lives. These are the little things that will hinder us as worshippers. What are the little foxes in our lives? It will be different things for different people. Allow God to reveal what those things are.
We are called to be like Him. God wants us to be molded like clay- His hands are safe. He is like a refiner’s fire when He comes close. He wants to kill even the little things like a wrong heart attitude. He continually brings us close to Him to prune us, cleanse us, shape us and mold us.
In John 15, Jesus talks about wanting to cut off every branch that bears no fruit. He cleans those branches so that we will bear more fruit in our lives. God is looking for our lives to be fruitful in whatever we do as we worship Him.
Sometimes pruning to include good things. An example might be that God would call us to step in another direction. It might be a scary thing, but He knows what’s best- even if it takes years. We want the quick thing, but God is looking for the faithful, even if he puts us in a desert place we will bear fruit. If we remain in Him, we will bear A LOT of fruit. On the flipside, Jesus says apart from Him we can do nothing. Life is awesome when we can allow God to lead and guide us in every area of our lives. Through the pruning and cleansing of our hearts we will be ready to live as the worshippers that God has called us to be.
