Missions

THUNDER BAY – OUR MAIN MISSION FIELD
Our first mission field is our home city of Thunder Bay, Ontario. We believe that each member of our congregation is in our city for a reason. We believe that God has a good plan for Thunder Bay and that the local church plays an important part in that good plan. We encourage the people who call Saalem home to see their workplace and their neighborhood as their main mission field.

Short Term Missions and Campaign Evangelism
We believe in career missionaries, as well as short term missions and campaign evangelism. We are encouraging our members to seek out ways to be involved in global missions, as well as to travel in missions if they are given that opportunity. Pastor Pekka Perho traveled four to six weeks in missions each year during his six years as youth and associate pastor at Saalem and continues with a similar annual foreign missions schedule as lead pastor.

Career Missionaries
Saalem Church is supporting Hannu and Milla Happonen as career missionaries to Uganda through FIDA.
Hannu is involved with HIV and AIDS work as well as multiple speaking engagements. Milla Happonen is the founder of Caring Hands, an organization that empowers native African women by creating job opportunities for them.
