PRAISE IN EVERY SEASON
Praise is a choice but it’s not an option. This may seem like a big statement to some. Praise is really a lifestyle. It’s not always easy. Sometimes we don’t “feel” like giving our praise. This is when we give to God what is the called the “sacrifice of praise.” In fact, I’ve heard it said that we should take opportunities to give the “sacrifice of praise,” as when we are in Heaven we will no longer need to do so.
Praise is easy when we know who God is. When you spend time with Him and in His word, you will be filled with who He is. Your heart and mouth will overflow with praise because You see how amazing He really is. He is good. It would difficult to praise a God that wasn’t good right? But the truth is He is always good. No matter what you’re facing. In everything you go through you can always give Him praise- not only because He’s worthy of it because you want to do it just because of who He is.
I want to say as well that there really should be nothing holding us back when it comes to living a life of praise. Sometimes we need to be like Children, we can get too serious sometimes. We start to look at ourselves and wonder what people will think. Don’t worry what people will think! Or whatever is holding you back, don’t let it. God wants us to be who he created us to be. We were created to praise our creator. In ever situation we can be free to express our praise to God. You can make praise the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning, saying out loud “Praise you Lord!” Whether you feel like it or not, let praise be expressed freely to God.
I encourage to train yourself to praise no matter what happens in life, no matter what season you are in. Make praise a lifestyle. When you get to that place of making praise a lifestyle it’s not hard anymore. I came out of the summer of 2015 after my dad had died and I had spent twelve days in the hospital and I can still say that God is good. Praise the Lord!
I’ll close with sharing a few lyrics from Matt Redman’s song, “Let Everything that Has Breath:”
“Praise You in the morning/Praise You in the evening/Praise You when I’m young
and when I’m old/Praise You when I’m laughing/Praise You when I’m grieving
Praise You every season of the soul.”
